What is a grease trap?
A grease arrestor, or a grease trap as they are more commonly referred to, is a recepticle that prevents the majority fats, oils and greases (FOGs) from entering a wastewater system, being either deep sewer or septic tanks.
Who needs a grease trap?
Most businesses involved in the retail food industry should have a grease trap installed. This includes restaurants, cafes, lunch bars, takeaway shops, bakeries, butchers shops and any other business that is involved in the preparation or cooking of food products on site.
How often does my grease trap need to be serviced?
If you are connected to deep sewer, you are required to hold a Trade Waste Permit with the Water Corporation. Your Trade Waste Permit will specify how often your grease trap needs to be serviced. If you are not connected to deep sewer, contact our office to discuss your service frequency requirements.
How much will it cost to pump out my grease trap?
Price depends on the size of the grease trap. Contact our office for a free, competitive quote.
Do you report to Water Corporation to satisfy Trade Waste Permit compliance?
